THANK YOU GOD THANK YOU

I didn't post this, but a while ago back in March I entered a poetry contest at my local library and the other day, (Thursday the 21) I won 1st and 2nd place! Now before you correct me, one of the rules was to write two poems per person. So we're driving there and I am praying to the Lord. Praying that I won't make a fool of myself, then we get there and enter the meeting room and we're about to take our seats when a librarian comes to us and asks me to sit in the front.  A very  nervous girl (me!) sits up front.  Now the program starts we go through the 6-8, 9 year olds and finally the 10-12. 'In first place' says the librarian (OKAY THE LIBRARIAN SAID MY NAME BUT I  CAN'T SAY MY NAME WHILE BLOGGING) 'the eleven year old!). shocked,  I get up ,shake the judge's hand receive my certificate, my $30 dollar gift card(walmart), read my poem and get a goodie bag. I sit down. Then the librarian gives the list to the judge (for second place) he looks at it and he's all like hmm uh huh and I am thinking "it must be someone with a really hard name or something" then the second place is announced....me! I am really surprised, shake the guys hand again, get my certificate and gift card ($20,walmart,total $50)read my poem  and sit down (no goodie bag :(  ) that's it. I reach mommy and get a big, big hug while she  tells me she had to wipe tears away! I am just thanking God because I really didn't want to read my poems but I did and I really didn't think they were good at all but thank you so much God, and here are my poems
The Unbearable Heat
Its very hot, too hot really
I’ve had too much lemonade
Just to cool off in the heat
But it was worth it
It was fun jumping around
Playing hide and seek
Making mud pies
And trying to keep cool
The sun has set now
And its time to go home
Time to pick up the trash
And go on home

simmer summer
Just imagine it
A perfect summer day
No flies, no bugs
And not much heat
Lemonade cups stand around
And ice pops too
How good they were!
Wish I could have more
Its dusk and we still play
Hide and seek of course
It gets late and we go inside
What a great summer

Survival

*WARNING* Super Loooong Post Ahead
In this time of natural disasters and uncertainty, it doesn't hurt to be prepared.  In our family's case it wasn't a natural disaster, but a job loss that totally derailed our lives.  A few years ago, my husband lost his job.  As the breadwinner in the family, this was a devastating blow.  We learned a lot about the things that are helpful for survival in times of trouble.  All it takes is picking up a few extra supplies every time you do your shopping.  That way when disaster strikes, be it weather related or job related you and your families can be better prepared.
- The Mom
As mom just said times were tough on us but we got through it (thank you god love you!).I remember waking up either on the couch in our den becuase it was cold or in my bed with no covers because it was too hot, but anyway I would wake up, pray to god and wonder: what's for breakfast? Most of our food was in a cooler in the kitchen, others in the pantry. I also remember the first time our lights went out. Us children were watching our big brother playing the video game, counting down untill the light guy turned it all off. I was hiding on the boy's pillow, waiting. Then it went out just like that daddy came inside and we started asking him what to do, he was pacing and it was getting hot.For dinner we ate cereal I can't remember what my parents ate though. And thats what happened, us in survival mode it was really hard and I was sad but we got through it! And as much as I hate to say this but I am happy we went through that becuase now we know what to do when something like that happens again.Gosh its like I wrote a full blog post!

back again hi : )

I am baaaaack! (screaming included here)Its been two weeks since I have last blogged, and no vacation or spring break  was involved just pure laziness (sigh). Although I have made a slight discovery in girly girl shows:Winx club. Its not new or anything but thats because its a show originally from Italy. When I was a little girl I remember sitting in mommy and daddy's room watching it on their small t.v (It may have only been once that happened but still)ah memories!.I also thought it was an old show and believed that it never came on anymore (okay not to mention that one day I watched it at my grandmothers house). But last friday(note the goverment shutdown everyone was so sad about, I'll get to that) it came to my mind and I typed it up on that search engine of mine! And volia a legacy began!I believe the last time I became sucked into a show(that Ihad to watch on youtube :( ) was Jem and the Holograms (if you look it up on youtube be prepared to be sucked in). The goverment shutdown probably scared a lot of people who work for the gov., and now that its over we are now again in fear about money and that with gas, food, and the weather! And what if there was like some earthquake or something? Food would be needed maybe up to two to three weeks or two to three months. and water lots and lots of water! Just a little, you know how I get carried away sometimes!

ATTENTION! PART 2

Okay, first of all I want to thank my Aunt for mentioning my blog on her blog. I felt really happy, so thank you Auntie! Anyway, I have something to recommend. Last week, I think, Mommy signed my sister and two brothers up for this thing called Kaplin. Its like this online tutoring system and truth be told I really enjoy it. All they tutor in is math and reading.  I learned things I hadn't before when you select your special grade.  The good part is when you start a free trial, you can do a pretest and whatever you get wrong or right, they will create their own lesson plans just for you, not another sibling, just you. But, its Kaplin tutoring which is for children, but you can go to college online on the official site. Okay, heres our favourite part, when you do the lessons you earn points and when you earn points there's this thing called the reward zone where you can spend your points.  It's real stuff like computers, books, toys and more!  It takes a while to save up, but it encourages you to work harder, plus its really fun. okay, I'm almost done. Today I washed my hair and styled it, and I realized that it was pretty and I liked it. Why am I saying this? Because sometimes I don't really appreciate my hair and sometimes I wish I had straight hair (or a perm) or something.  I just didn't want it to be nappy.  But it was pretty and I do love it and it looks really nice now just in twists and I will teach myself to love who I am and who God made me. I especially think this is important for young girls and its dangerous for them to think they aren't pretty and go off and do something to make themselves pretty.  Here's a tip and then I'll stop :) Here's how to be pretty:1. wash hair,  however; 2. twist it up; 3. spray with nice smelling stuff. The End, and trust me you will look outstanding.
